Alaska 7 Day Quilt Cruise!  (Just a few spots left!)

With so much bountiful wildlife and breathtaking scenery, no wonder “The Last Frontier” is the first choice on most cruise lover’s wish lists. There’s something wonderful awaiting you in every port of call:

  • Juneau – In Alaska’s capital, taste salmon baked over an alderwood fire, pan for gold, flight-see the Juneau Ice Field, and visit the Mendenhall glacier.
  • Sitka – Step back to the days of Russian Alaska as you watch lively performances of the New Archangel Dancers and view holy paintings of the Czarists’ days. Plenty of wildlife adventures await!
  • Ketchikan – Immerse yourself in Tlingit Indian culture as you view the world’s largest collection of totem poles or kayak the colorful waterfront. Visit Creek Street and see Alaska as the early pioneers did.
  • Victoria, B.C. – Stroll through the charming downtown of this very British city. Or, just outside the city, visit the lush flora and fauna of Butchart Gardens.

You can play tourist, choosing your pleasure, whether it be walking, touring, flight-seeing or shopping. All the ports we visit are directly in town, and there is a lot to see within walking distance, including quilt shops in every port.

14 day Quilt Explorations Batiks and Bali cruise!  (Taking Waitlists)

bali

This 14-day cruise of a lifetime begins and ends in Singapore. Visit the Indonesian ports of Jakarta, Semarang, Surabaya, Probolinggo, Lombok, Komodo Island and overnight on board ship in magical Bali. Tour along the way in ports that will show you a behind-the-scenes glimpse of the Indonesian fabric industry.

We will visit the biggest textile market in South East Asia, Tanah Abang Market, on Jakarta. While on Java, we will not only visit traditional markets, but observe the process of making batiks. Once you’ve observed, step in and learn from a batik expert as they guide you through designing and creating your own hand-made batik to bring home! While in Bali and visit the center of Balinese hand-woven fabric.

Round out the cruise with a tour to Komodo Island where you can visit the amazing Komodo Dragons in their natural habitat. With lectures, shopping time and surprises along the way, this will be an unforgettable trip of a lifetime! To know the exact schedule and route of the cruise, view the detailed itinerary.

We’ve just returned from a fantastic quilt cruise with Voyage of the Vikings with  Quilt Seminars at Sea.

During sea days, I taught my Celtic Illusions technique, a Transparency class and a special class: Quilts of Illusion, focused on creating perspective in quilts.

We sailed from Amsterdam, our group joining us there and had port stops in Newcastle in England, South Queensferry (Edinburgh) and Invergordon (Inverness) in Scotland.  3 stops in Iceland and 2 stops in Norway rounded out our trip.

During our time at sea, we had quilt classes, get-togethers, quilt games, sewing time and fun being together.

Some photos from our time in Amsterdam.  While there, we visited museums and enjoyed walking along the canals.

Collage #1 Viking Cruise

Our first classes were held once we were on the ship.  We had full classes and excited students from around the world.

Our first stop was Newcastle-on-Tyne in England. Some of us took a shore excursions to York.

Loved our visit there! Some fantastic sight-seeing and a yummy fish and chips lunch.

York, quilt cruise

Stops in South Queensferry and Invergordon were our next stop. Rick and I scheduled a tour with a Steve, our Scottish guide.  Outlander fans will recognize some of these locations.

Onward toward Iceland, quilting classes while we sailed.  Iceland is an amazing place.  Many of us took shore excursions while we were at port.  A few photos from this amazing place.

Iceland Quilt Cruise

One of our stops was a geyser just outside Reyjkavik.  I was able to capture a slo-motion video of its eruption.

After three stops in Iceland, we were ready for more quilt classes and quilting fun!

Next stop, Norway,  more beautiful sights, yummy snacks and wonderful quilting inspiration.

It was an amazing trip with memories to last a life-time.

Alaska Cruise – August 19 – 26, 2017!

fbimages_alaska-002

In August, 2017, we will be traveling to one of my favorite destinations – Alaska!  I’ve been there 3 or 4 times already, but can’t wait to go back!

A cruise to Alaska is a perfect way to see this amazing landscape.   We will be traveling to and from Seattle on this 7 day cruise.

All the ports we visit are directly in town, and there is a lot to see within walking distance, and the best part. . . quilt shops in every port! (Better take an empty suitcase with you!)

There are a wide variety of classes from which to choose, taught by myself, Laura Wasilowski, Gloria Loughman and Linda J. Hahn.  Sewing machines will be available for your use on board. You will even have the chance to purchase a new machine at a great price!   I’ve love to have you join us for this fantastic cruise!

Ever wonder what happens when you are on a quilting cruise?

Here’s a little peek at our classes, open sewing time, show and tell, ports of call and going through the Canal from our latest cruise with Quilt Seminars at Sea.

We had a fantastic time with a wonderful group!  Can’t wait to be with them again.

Enjoy the little video.

I’m so excited about this new cruise!!!!

August 14 – 28, 2016, we will be returning to Europe for a fabulous cruise to England, Scotland, Norway and Iceland! We’ll sail on Holland America Line’s beautiful new ship, the ms Koningsdam, departing from Amsterdam, The Netherlands.

As usual, we have fantastic quilt classes and I will be joined by fellow teachers Paula Nadelstern and Cindy Walter! There are plenty of opportunities to “sewcialize” with other people who share our love for quilting, too. Who knows? You may arrive as strangers, but leave with many new friends!

A break from everyday life – enjoy 5-star service!

Holland America’s brand new ship, the ms Koningsdam, is a mix of something contemporary and something classic. You’ll discover soaring spaces such as the multi-story atrium, a magnificent art and antiques collection, and the attention of superb staff. The ship features an elegant, two-tiered dining room, the intimate reservations-only Pinnacle Grill, two outdoor swimming pools, The Greenhouse Spa, library, shopping arcade and more! Holland America Line offers over fifty scheduled shipboard activities and many choices of shore excursions in each port. Prepare to be inspired and pampered!

The Northern Isles

We will explore some unique stops along the way:

  • England – The 2,000 year-old historic city of Newcastle is a story all its own.
  • Scotland – Experience the history of Edinburgh and the beautiful highlands.
  • Iceland – Marvel at volcanic activity, visit the busy fishing port of Isafjordur and take in the vibrant music scene of Reykjavik.
  • Norway – Sail the Fjords and explore the quaint fishing villages.

There’s something wonderful awaiting you in every port of call. To know the exact schedule and route of the cruise, view the detailed itinerary.  You may also call 1-866-573-6351.

This trip will sell out fast, so book early! A list of dedicated quilters were interested in booking this trip even before it was organized. Bring a friend, your spouse or your family – non-quilters are always welcome to join us and will have many activities to pursue while you are in class.

We can’t wait to see you on board the brand new ms Koningsdam!
